My first practicum in psychotherapy was in 1977. I have been practicing for 42 years and still feel a great deal of excitement and dedication to my profession. Over the years I have worked in a variety of settings: VA Hospital, Private Psychiatric Hospital, Outpatient Psychotherapy Clinic and in Private Practice. Aside from my clinical work I have also taught part time on the college level. I have been a volunteer at my local Hospice in Boulder for almost 20 years and a Prayer Chaplin at my Unity Spiritual Center.
I received my PhD in 1980 and my first Clinical Psychologist License was in New York, my birthplace. I have also lived and am licensed in Asheville, North Carolina; St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands; and in Boulder, Colorado. Currently I plan to stay in Boulder and continue my career for a number of years.
Post PhD I studied at the Jungian Institute in Zurich, Switzerland, and have become credentialed in EMDR, Brainspotting, Imago Individual and Couples Therapy, and LENS (low energy neurofeedback system). I have found that these adjuncts to psychotherapy are sometimes necessary and allow for great growth.
I work with individuals, couples, and families depending on the need of the client with the age range from adolescents through seniors. My experience is varied with brief psychotherapy through long term treatment depending on the circumstances.
My approach is eclectic which means I have combined techniques and trainings to fit the need of the individual. Being a long time meditator, I often bring mindfulness and meditation into treatment.
From a personal perspective I am a very happy person living with joy and gratitude. I am physically active enjoying sailing and diving in the Caribbean and skiing in Colorado. I also work out five days a week and incorporate yoga, Pilates, and dance into my life. I am a widow, a mother, a sister, and a grandmother to a 4 year old boy. Family and friends are a very important part of my life and a great source of meaning to me.
