PhD and PsyD

Psy.D and Ph.D

Psychologists (PsyD) hold doctoral degrees (PhD) and are trained in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. They bring advanced expertise in understanding human behavior, cognition, and psychological testing. All psychologists have a PhD, but not all PhDs are psychologists. Some LPCs & LCSWs may choose to pursue Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, which includes both clinical work and research training.
