About Susan

Gender Woman
Pronouns She/Her
Ethnicity White

I am an experienced clinician with 25 plus years working in the mental health field. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995, Richmond, Virginia.  My degree is in Rehabilitation Counseling with a focus on substance abuse.  Early in my career, I worked in Substance Abuse settings and I am well versed in recovery models to include 12 step approaches.  Later in my career I worked with adolescents in group homes and residential treatment centers, providing clinical support to underserved populations.  Since 2003, I have  worked in private practice with a variety of outpatient populations.  My specialties include, complex trauma, eating disorders, addiction, depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties.

I have a creative flexible approach with the people I work with and I pride myself on treating each of the individual clients I meet as the unique, valuable beings that they are.  Developing insight and allowing our pain to mature us can be incredibly rewarding.  With couples work, I use PACT, a Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy and I am PACT Level 1 trained.  I am skilled in assessing attachment styles and how they play a part in our primary relationships. The goal for this modality would be to develop secure functioning relationships.   My experience is diverse and varied and there are few clinical challenges I have not encountered.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me at your earliest convenience for an initial consultation.
