Hello! My name is Chris Marhevka (pronouns:he/him). I am a licensed clinical social worker with 7+ years of field experience in mental health. Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, I graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Master of Science degree in Social Administration and concentration on children, youth, and families. My work history is varied, as I have treated clients in schools, hospitals, offices, homes, and over-the-phone via county mental health crisis lines.
I work with clients of all ages, but I specialize in treating adolescents and adults who experience depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, family conflicts, LGBTQIA+-related concerns, trauma history, and mental health crises. As a gay man and an Asian American adopted from the Philippines, advocacy for minority populations is important to me. I take special care to make safety plans with clients as needed, so to identify a full-time support system and accessible resources, not just in-session support.
My approach is a collaborative effort with you to set specific, achievable goals and foster a safe space for you to explore barriers and celebrate successes. I want you to get the most out of therapy. I believe most issues can be addressed with cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness practice, but I adapt my approach based on clients’ needs. I know that seeking help is often overwhelming, and so much of it hinges on finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable. My style is candid but professional, and I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy. I welcome first-time therapy-goers as well as those revisiting treatment looking for a more positive experience or simply seeking a new provider. My hours of availability are typically evenings and weekends. I am currently offering in-person sessions in Boulder and Telehealth virtual sessions.
