Charlotte Hamilton

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addictions Counselor with nearly 20 years of experience since receiving my social work degree from the University of Chicago. My clinical experience includes working as an individual and group therapist, a bereavement coordinator/counselor, a medical and hospice social worker, a crisis evaluator, and a clinical supervisor of a team of therapists.

In my experience, therapy works best when the therapeutic relationship is based on a foundation of mutual respect and collaboration and builds upon your personal strengths and goals. This is why I tailor my approach based on each individual’s needs and preferences. I often include a mix of person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), family systems therapy, and existential therapy, among others. I also help individuals gain insight into the systems and environments that impact them and use this understanding to make decisions in line with their values and goals. Authenticity and transparency are essential parts of the therapy process for me, along with a healthy dose of humor whenever needed.
