Ashley Seeger - LCSW

Hello, I am so glad you are reaching out for help. I have been a therapist for over 24 years working with individuals to help them understand what they are going through and to find resolution, transformation and peace. I practice in a sunny office in downtown Louisville but also see clients online. I specialize in relationships, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma as well as assisting people as they separate from narcissistic relationships. It is amazing how trapped and powerless we can feel in this type of poisonous relationship – whether with a spouse, parent, sports coach or boss.

I received my Masters in Social Work from Catholic University in 1999 and then completed two postgraduate degrees from the Insititute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis in Washington, DC. My focus was on Relational Psychotherapy, Parts Theory (Family Systems) and Attachment Theory. I love all of these perspectives for healing and continue to use them. However, during the COVID pandemic, I looked for different modalities for treating the upheaval we were all going through. COVID was such a time of loss and stress for the world. I found Brainspotting (find info at www.Brainspotting.com) and quickly realized its effectiveness in treating complex trauma. I pivoted my practice to include this very powerful tool.

I work hard to keep up-to-date on the science behind how our bodies and minds process emotions, events and traumas as well as how we move forward in the aftermath. I believe strongly that there is a logic to emotions and that once we understand this, we feel far less crazy. Therapy with me will be filled with empathy, education about how your brain and body store emotions and gentle humor.
