Andrea Jegier

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I have been providing counseling services for the last twenty years.  I began my counseling career as an outpatient therapist at a community mental health center.  I worked with adults and provided both individual and group therapy.  I treated people with severe and persistent mental illness as well as those diagnosed with anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, mood disorders, and trauma and stressor related disorders. Later, I received training in Filial play therapy and began working with children. I conducted Filial play therapy groups with children and their parents. I also received training in PCIT before moving to Colorado.

After moving to Colorado, I worked for a brief time in nursing home settings where I provided therapy services to older adults with a variety of mental health diagnoses.  I went on to take a position at a community mental health center where I worked on a team that provided in-home therapy services to adults and children who were at risk of out of home placement or hospitalization. I eventually took a position with the early childhood team, and I have been collaborating with this team for the last eleven years. I received training in EMDR and became certified in EMDR in 2018.  I currently provide therapy services to both children and adults.  I have experience working with children who have experienced trauma.  Many of the children I see are involved in the social service system and/or foster care system.  I also work with children diagnosed with ADHD, ODD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and other behavioral disorders.  I believe that each child is unique and requires an approach tailored to their specific needs and strengths.  I also believe that parents are an integral part of their child’s treatment.
