I am a psychotherapist who enjoys helping people with various life issues. I aim to come alongside clients to assist with a wide range of challenges. Seeking help for the first time can be scary so I understand that the first step is a significant one. Once we get started, I help clients gain insight using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Insight-oriented therapy, Schema Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) methods.
I graduated from Western Michigan University in 1996 with a degree in counseling. I started out working in addictions for 4 years and later branched out to work in a private practice setting working with adults, teens, and children. I currently specialize in women’s issues. I enjoy helping clients find their voice, recover from traumas, develop healthier relationships, and gain skills for coping with stress. Strengthening existing skills and adding new skills such as assertiveness and healthy boundary setting can help clients feel more confident. Nutrition education is also useful for interested clients. I enjoy multicultural counseling and have a great appreciation for various cultures and diversity. I do my best to understand your culture and how you view life through that lens as we work together. I only do faith-based counseling with interested clients. If your worldview is different than mine, I will respect that as we work together on your goals.
